Keep in mind Not All home remodeling contractors are equal in cost, quality, and value, some may not provide the same scope of work, or be honest on the front end about the extent of the project. That can result in multiple change orders that drive up the cost in the long run. Memphis I-240 loop sound familiar? We always recommend that you research each contractor and do your homework, make sure if you get multiple estimates to compare the scope of work between them. Every contractor is different and provides different levels of quality, scope of work, job site protection or preperation, cleanup and disposal.
Many contractors are Fly by Night or Storm Chasers that knock on doors. We’ve all heard horror stories about those guys running off with someone’s money, never coming back to finish a job, etc.
TN requires "licensed contractors" to have and maintain a Bond to protect your Down Payment or Deposit and carry both General Liability and Workers' Compensation Insurance to protect you, your money, and your property.
To verify our license go to Verify.tn.gov and type 78729 as the license number and Contractors as the profession.
Please reach us at neadingremod@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
We generally stay booked 3-6 weeks out for most projects. We can sometimes get to smaller (Handyman Service Call) type projects sooner by filling gaps in our schedule, and are usually done at an on call basis. (We will call you when we get an opening to see if your available, if not you will maintain your already scheduled date. Larger projects and remodels are more complex and usually require ordering materials and coordinating multiple schedules between the homeowner, employees, sub contractors, and inspections therefore they tend to be further out on the schedule.
We try our best to provide you with the different options available and knowing your budget will help us to provided the best advice for your project. If you don't have one or you honestly just don't know that's ok too.
Knowing the year the house or addition was built helps us know what type of materials or challenges we may run into during your remodel or project. By knowing the building styles, trends, and materials used during the time your house was built helps us determine the type of wiring, plumbing, siding, paint etc. Lead paint, asbestos siding, insulation, and popcorn texture as well as knob and tube wiring and framing type and even being able to source replacement parts and materials all play a role in knowing the age of your home.
Home Improvement is a seasonal industry and weather plays a huge role in scheduling. Once your Down payment (usually 1/3rd) is received we will hold your spot on the schedule. A tentative start date will be discussed and is based upon other clients projects already scheduled ahead of yours on the calendar and that delays and or change orders could extend those projects pushing back the start date of your Project. If a Project becomes delayed we will notify you asap of the potential delay in starting your project. We will do our best to accommodate any issues or changes required on those projects, the same as we will do with any that arise during your project, we hope that in an effort to provide the same exceptional service to everyone, that you understand there may be scheduling delays.
No, we don’t just drive out to take a look without more information. And here’s why; Most contractors are dying to get any and all jobs regardless of the project. True many contractors are jacks of all trades including us, however we understand that not every project is a good fit. There are many reasons for that, is it something were great at or do we specialize in it? Does our client want different options for repairs? What’s the timeline, do we have the schedule availability or manpower available to finish within a reasonable timeframe? What’s a reasonable timeframe to our clients? Is our budget for the project in the same ballpark as our client’s budget?
Most contractors don't even ask basic questions like; what your project is or entails, if you have a timeline, what options your wanting or if you want options or if you have a budget. Instead, they answer the phone and just want to drive over immediately or set a date immediately to "look" at your project asap. Many do this because they think that if they get over there first, they can back you into a corner and try to win you over or talk you into a deal on the spot. Really Guys? In so…. many ways this is Bad business; Have you been able to do your research, are they a company, contractor, or individual. Do you know if they are Licensed, Bonded, and Insured, a real business or a guy on the side working under the table? Do you know if they have experience in projects similar to yours? Do you know if there are different options available for your project? Do you know if they have employees or do they use subcontractors? Do you know if they are even available to complete your project within your ideal Timeframe or even how long a project like yours will take?
Free Estimate vs Paid On-Site Consultation
The definition of an estimate is a rough or approximate calculation. Now most guys are trying to do so many free estimates that they spend all day, evenings, or weekends driving out to every phone call they get trying to just win an estimate. In doing so they rush through each one, miss important details or entire portions of the project, and try and sell themselves instead of listening to what you want, because they are trying to get to the next one hoping that more volume and the rule of odds will eventually be in their favor. On the other hand, they are usually trying to be the cheapest bidder thinking that will win them the job and when they start the project, they will just change order you to death. I-240 loop sound familiar, how many years and how much over budget was that project? Ever hear the term you get what you pay for, well this is definitely the scenario that matters here. Go ahead and get a couple “Free Estimates” from other guys and compare them to our virtual form, email, text, and call estimate.
Were a small business and run most of our office work from our smart phones and laptop. We primarily work in the field with our tools on jobsites and don’t have 15 dedicated sales guys sitting in an office waiting on the phone to ring with nothing better to do or going door to door interrupting you at dinner time. This is not 1950 and those guys need to get with the times. For the rest of us we developed an easy and simple process to get Free information on your project. Fill out the form below in its entirety so we have all the basic information to get started. Then attach your photos at the bottom of the form or text them to 901-220-5869 with your name after completing this form. We will contact you as soon as we can to discuss in more detail and will be able to share timelines, options, and ballpark cost estimates with you for free without ever having to come out.
I compared estimates what’s the next step?
When you want to move forward the next step is to schedule an “On-Site Consultation”. This is where we setup a time to meet on site with you and walk the project sharing our years of experience, take measurements, additional photos, and do light discovery if applicable. To combine the information from the consultation, check current material pricing, and accurately compile a detailed scope of work proposal to email to you, expect this to take a few days. The proposal will include selectable options if applicable to your project and list contract terms and deposit amount. You will be able to select the options you want, digitally sign to accept the proposal, and electronically pay the deposit officially putting you on our schedule.
